Lead the Tokyo-based Applications Group (5 engineers) delivering end-to-end features for core Treasure Data capabilities, including audience segmentation and campaign decisioning across activation channels.
Own team health, delivery, and technical sustainability, operating with an async-first model and AI coding agents; contribute as IC when needed.
Manage, coach, and grow engineers: 1:1s, performance reviews, career development; drive cross-training toward full-stack capability and AI-assisted engineering; lead Tokyo hiring in partnership with TA.
Drive sprint planning and commitments; translate roadmap priorities into executable sprints; provide architectural gut-checks and escalate design review as required.
Triage customer escalations; leverage AI coding agents to route, fix, or address tech debt; serve as escalation point on-call.
Collaborate with JP-overlap cross-functional roles (GTM, customer support) to translate signals into requirements and verification gates; establish async operating rhythm across NA/Asia and document decisions.
Travel 2–3 times per year; require 3 days/week in the Tokyo office.

8+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years in people management, at Staff Engineer level or equivalent.
Hands-on depth in web application development and maintenance; ability to review designs, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and contribute code on tech debt/maintenance.
Fluency with AI coding agents in daily engineering work; ability to lead a team shipping with AI agents and discern when human review is needed.
Fluent Japanese (native) and business English.
Experience delivering via sprint-based delivery, with 1:1s, coaching, and performance conversations.
